I’ve been in dire need of a new eyeshadow pallet for like a century. I’ve always had the ingredients for a standard smokey eye but never a gorgeous pallet to mix up the look.
After seeing my friend’s gorgeous Urban Decay Naked pallets, I’ve been threatening to follow suit and invest. The neutral colours are just divine, you can’t deny it, but at £38 a pop, I just can’t bring myself to take the plunge.
I keep weighing up the pro’s and con’s but so far, my list is more pro than con and has endless excuses as to why I need it. The shades compliment each other amazingly, they’re as subtle or as dramatic as you want them – fab for any occasion from work to a night on the town.
Just as I was about to give in and delve deep into my (rather shallow) pockets, I came across a post by Whatsasssays. It seems she was in my shoes and had been wishing for the Naked pallet to magically appear in her makeup bag as well, but she’d found the perfect doppelganger.
The Revolution pallet by Makeup Revolution London has proven to be a fabulous stand in until I’m rich enough for the luxurious brands and at £4 – you can’t complain.
I’m one of those who’s pretty skeptical about cheap makeup and I’m apprehensive about buying it. I’d much rather invest in a trustworthy brand ‘cos I know I’ll get my money’s worth.
BUT, the Revolution pallet has definitely made me re-think a few things. It has great coverage, it’s thick so you don’t need to keep re-applying and the colours blend so well and easy.
It gets a whopping 7/10 from me!
I wear it almost every day to work and darken the colours when out with friends. I’ve even had some compliments about the way it looks and that is definitely reassuring.
I’d love to give it a rounded 10/10 but I can’t help but compare it to the Naked pallet – even though I know I shouldn’t. Even though the Revolution pallet has easy application, I’ve used my friends’ Naked eyeshadows before and they’re so smooth in comparison. There’s a nice mix of matte and shimmery shades, whereas the Revolution pallet leans more towards shimmer – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I’d personally prefer the option.
I’m really happy with my bargain buy – has anybody else used this? Or have you any other sneaky low budget options up your sleeves?
Let me know.
Love, Tasha x
